Best equipment for photographing gems


 
 
I have a customer asking my advise on photographing gems on his web-site. Such as equipment and lighting, I have never used the availabe Tents, or Gem Box equipment do you have any suggestions.

Yes, Jana: try it.
It's not so difficult. Just get the gear and start shooting. Hey! It's digital! If you don't like what you get, you shoot again. And again. And again.

Hi Jana,
Tents will flatten your pictures of faceted stones, removing sparkle. Tents will also remove the file from opals. Small direct lights with reflectors may work better for you. I would look a quartz light sources.
