Quesiton about new monitor... I have a new Samsung LCD monitor, and I have some questions about color calibration. I have a Spyder2 color calibration system, but I am very new to color management. When I install my new monitor, should I use the actual disk/manufacturer's drivers or shoud I just install it as a standard Plug and Play monitor? My reason for asking is that I noticed that the Samsung drivers had a lot of color management "things" built in and I don't want those to interfere with the profile that the Spyder2 system uses and loads. Installing the monitor as a Plug and Play monitor with no features seems to me like a good way to insure that there is no interference with the Spyder2 color management. Does this make sense? This is also true of the video card. I have an NVIDIA card and the NVIIDIA drivers have a lot of color management settings. How can I be certain that the video drivers don't interefere with the Spyder2 profile? Again, I'm very new to all this and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Jason, I am pretty sure that when you calibrate with the Spyder, it will take care of everything it needs to. What I wouldn't do is make a lot of changes to settings in the drivers and monitor software. let the Spyder do its thing and then KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF ;-) It will balance the monitor whatever the current settings are, and if you change the settings, you'll have to recalibrate. I don't think it will matter plug-n-play or otherwise. The ColorVision Spyder (http://www.aps8.com/spyder.html is a product I have been using for years and I have complete faith in it. It shows in my printed results.
