Picking a name I am getting started as a photographer, and I am trying to pick my name. I am wanting to use Lizz's Pics but I am not sure if "Pics" is professional or not. I dont want to use the whole Photography by _______ or _________ Photography. Please Let me know what you think!

I think that using your name is a good idea, it add's credibility. However I agree with your thoughts that "Pics" does not seem professional, How about these: images by __________ or ________images

Choose a name that insures a potential customer knows what service/product you are selling. Personally, the name "pics" makes me think of snapshots, not professional photography. Why Lizz? I would avoind "images" too. It could be confusing to the non-photographer what you are selling. I suggest __________ Photography. If you are specializing in a certain type of photography, use it (Lizz's Nature Photography).

Lizz is what I have gone by with my family sense I was little, so I wanted to use that rather than my name. I agree with not using the "images"... but I want something that is different and will catch attention... not the same old thing.

If you're gonna stamp it on every one of your photos I'd use singular: "Photo by Lizz".

doesn't that only work if your name is elizabeth. Alot of professionals go by their real name, but if its for fun how about Jizz Photofactory.

BP Instructor Vic Orenstein authored a book that I bought before my BP days on building a photo business. My advice about keeping the name simple came from her book. http://www.betterphoto.com/reviews/reviewItemDetail.php?reviewItemID=4492 I recommend the book if you are just starting out.
