Photography Question

Lens

Hello BP family,

I am shooting a wedding next month at a church that does not allow photography during the ceremony. I plan on going to the balcony and shot from there (non-flash). The problem is, I do not currently have the lens to be about to do that. I am looking to buy or rent a lens that has enough zoom and large f-stop so I can shoot from that far away with no flash and still produce a great product. I shoot with a Canon 10d. What lens should I get for this shoot?

If the Minister or the Church don't allow picture-taking, you really should abide by their rules !!! Yes, rude members of the congregation may use their throw-aways and point and shoot; if you're going to follow that crowd, shhoot from the close-up pews.

In fact, shooting from the balcony will yield pretty useless pictures. You'll get the B&G's backsides. And, you will probably get some pretty terrible facial expressions, as participants speak during the ceremony.
