lots of questions......
i have recently bought a EOS400 Digital Rebel XTi. I am pretty much brand new to photography but am intested in making my career and am going to be starting school in a few weeks bu there is some ting I would like to knwo about my camera first. I can read all of these answers in my book that came with it but I dont think I understand them. 1. the dial on top of the camera, what does a-dep,M,Av,Tv,P, mean? 2. what is each setting good for? thanks so much for any question you can help me with .

M=Manual, Av=Aperture Priority, Tv=Shutter Priority and P=Program where the camera does it all. On Manual you set both the aperture and shutter speed yourself. In Aperture Priority you set the aperture you want and the camera automatically sets the shutter speed for you. With Shutter Priority you set the shutter speed and the camera chooses the correct aperture. Good luck with your career! There's a lot to learn but it's all fairly easy. You will understand it all in no time.
