Panasonic Silly Q again. My husband bought us this camera. He wanted to get something with more settings. My camera is a panasonic lumix DMC-FZ3PP I wanted to know if the DMC is that Degital manual camera. and does the FZ stand for focus and zoom. 3pp what does that mean. Am I right about the rest. Also the higher the number the better the camera?

It's a model number. They may not stand for anything. 240Z, 280Z, 300ZX.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ3 isn't exactly Panasonic's latest and greatest, Heather. The model was launched in July 2004. Almost 3 years ago. Panasonic's current top models are the FZ8 and the FZ50. The FZ3's 3megapixels limits prints - at 300dpi - to 5x7".

Oh thanks It just I hear it alot like I have a fz50 or fz8 and others. I thought it was more then just a model number. I am happy to know this. Ya I know its a couple years old, but it works for me at the moment. I don't do this for a living so I don't need too meny 11x14 or 8x10 so this will be fine if it does 5x7 and 4x6 and they turn out great. I should say they do turn out great. I have had meny picture developed. I should have said my husband bought this over a couple years ago. Thanks for the Info

Oh W.S. I just read this in the manual 3-megapixel sensor captures enough detail to create photo-quality 10-by-13-inch enlargements I guess your info was a little wrong.

OK, Heather, look here: http://www.design215.com/toolbox/megapixels.php. That manual came from who . . . ?

On the other hand, the megapixel myth was convincingly deconstructed by David Pogue in the New York Times, recently: http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9507E1DD113FF93BA35751C0A9619C8B63 and http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/14/technology/15pogue-email.html Have fun in the jungle!
