Photography Question

Debbie Del Tejo

HOW CAN WE ALL THANK MARK???

I for one, have learned so much from our fellow BPer MARK FELDSTEIN. He is always there when you need an accurate answer and an honest to goodness opinion. I am amazed at his talent and just want to acknowledge that here in this forum. I know I speak for many of us that just get so much information from him. Not just information but ACCURATE information.
Thank you MARK FELDSTEIN and if I could give you the Congressional Medal of Honor, I would........If I could give you the Nobel Peace Prize, I would.....but you should feel as if you have climbed to the top of Mount Everest just knowing that you have helped so many people along the way.....it means a lot.
heartfelt THANKS and best wishes!

May I be the first to second that? While I've never asked him a question, I read all his well thought out and very generous replies to you all. The man is a true teacher!

I fourth this notion! Mark is really a good “go-to” for so many problems that crop up and I, for one, am very thankful for his input!

One of the things that I like so much about BP is that there really are some good folks here who seem more than willing to share their expertise and who do not seem to grow particularly weary when we novices keep asking questions!

I am delighted that it has been declared NATIONAL MARK FELDSTEIN DAY. Mark has contributed so much to so many. I emailed Mark before a recent trip home for the holidays and requested suggestions for shooting in the Monterey Bay & San Francisco areas. His response was thoughtful and very complete. I had tons of fun and my grandson got to see the 49ers play on Christmas Eve. The highlight of his trip was seeing his first NFL game in person. Thanks again Mark for all you help.

LOL - don't take this 'all light' Mark, these are serious thank-you's! We've all benefitted - even if we haven't asked the question (or immediately understood the answer!!) but sometimes the penny drops! Thanks

[Tapping monitor...Is this thing on] WOW !!!! I feel like I should be wearing a tuxedo over my blue jeans and sweatshirt !!!

Well, believe it or not, I'm nearly at a loss for words. LOL !!!

First I want to thank Debbie for starting this. Thank you very much.

But seriously, thank you all for allowing me to help out once in awhile which, in turn I think, ultimately helps me give something back to my profession. That, in turn, helps me continue to learn and be a better photographer, among other things and hopefully a good friend to you as well.

I've learned quite a bit here too...like how to make pancakes with Baileys Irish Cream and a few new Latin expressions (Thanks Gregory !!!) among other things! Oh and Dennis, we've got 3 of them. And a fair amount about digital photography though I remain digitally impaired. (I'll be posting some new stuff in my website pretty soon).

Meanwhile, I admire all your work that I've seen here along with all your improvements and I know that's mostly due to your own personal efforts, hopes and desires and I applaud them all.

In all honesty, I want to THANK YOU, everyone at BP, for letting me share what I know, for accepting my faults if I stumble, and most of all, for being my friends.

Thanks guys !!! I really appreciate all of you too. You've made my day. Hell, you made my whole month!! LOL

Take it light :>)))))))))))))))))))

I HATE being so late getting in on this thread, but I have to add my thanks as well even if it is nearly belated!

Thank you, Mark! This site wouldn't be nearly as much fun without your contributions!

BTW, I hate to quit eating pancakes every morning for breakfast. They were shrinking all my clothes :(.

I'm really and truly humbled by your comments. In fact, I'm so humbled, I'm thinking about putting together a series workshop here in Monterey/Pebble Beach CA. Whaddya think? And hey...what do YOU think "*** I ***" should charge for that?? LOL !!!! [I know, I know, let's not get too crazy...right?]

  Hey Mark,

Love that area you live in. I've been fortunate enough to visit that area twice. Been about 10 years though since I have been there. I've even eaten lunch over looking the 18th green there at Pebble Beach twice. Beautiful view. Hope to get back out there. Sooooo many photo ops.

Let me be the first to sign up. You pick a date and I will book the flight. I didn’t get to go to all of the places you suggested. I did the aquarium and got a few beach shoots, but with 3 teenage boys and my 2 year old niece in tow, the possibilities were restricted. Just say when.

Hi Colby !! I'm sorry I didn't get to meet you when you visited but I'm glad you had a great time even with your hands full. .

So Robyn, what would it cost for us to fly to South Africa from say NYC? I'm not opposed to starting off in NY. Hmmmmmmmmmmm....maybe a worldwide workshop??? [Mark suffering from delusions of other peoples grandeur. LOL !]

And Todd, you know, I don't think it's changed a bit in 10 years except for the menu prices at the Lodge have skyrocketed even though they have the same sea foam colored carpet and their chairs are falling apart. I just bring a lunch and eat on the back veranda outside overlooking the 18th. :>) BTW, we've got the AT&T this weekend. Check your local listings.

I'll work on this a bit and let you know what I figure out. Any subjects anyone wants to learn about in particular ...I mean besides cooking with Baileys Irish Cream?
Lemme know here or by e-mail.

Just found this thread and I have to add my 2 or 3 thank-yous! Getting a thoughtful, detailed and most of all helpful answer (or two or three) from Mark not only improved my knowledge, but made me feel less like an idiot for asking. He knows how to give you information and opinions without condescension; much appreciated! :)

I have not jumped onto the forums that much. Just don't have the time. But I have often seen the thumbnail for Mark F come up, and ALWAYS he's got an educated, and helpful response. I don't know where he finds the time, but I know he's helpful to tons of BPers out there. Sadly, I've also seen the opposite--folks that want to hijack threads and stir the pot. Thankfully, Mark is on the winning team!

Well, I too don't often respond to comments in the forums, but I must add that I have learned alot from reading Mark's wisdom. I keep a notebook at my computer and make entries whenever anyone asks something new & I try to record who's answer I'm writing... and many times it's Mark's name. So thank you from a "lurker" to the forums.

And if you seriously do a workshop, I definately want details & info... and I'll be happy to fly to South Africa if I have to! LOL

Thanks again!
Brenda

What is really cool is Mark is a professional and doesn't mind sharing. I am in a Yahoo forum (not 101) where I made a comment about not bothering to ask a professional questions because they usually can't be bothered to respond. Well, that was a little unfair to all the folks who are helpful, but in response I got reamed out because I even bothered a professional and was told how little time they have to help, bla bla bla (they seemed to have plenty of time to write at length explaining how little time they had), but if I wanted to learn I should take a course. Well guess what, this person teaches courses so of course they are going to tell me to take a course. I can not afford courses (same as many others) so I'm most grateful for any and all help we receive here in the BP Q&A whether it be Mark or someone else.

Thanks to everyone here who helps!

Sharon, Mark is the professional, The ones who claim to be at the Yahoo forum you mentioned are probably just impressed with themselves as if "I have an expensive camera therfore I'm a pro". The only two forum I participate in are here and at Photography-on-the-net.com (Canon users) I had participated over at Mpix but soon found that it is like many others.

Thanks again Mark for being the Pro that you are.

You know Corinne, I spent some of my best formative years in Chicago train stations, from Northwestern to Union to Grand Central stations (yes they had a Grand Central in Chicago too) to the Ravenswood El. LOL !!!

Thanks very much, Ken, Colleen, Brenda, Mike thanks for allowing me to do that, and you too Brenden !!! Sharon, you're a sweetie. Thanks !!!
Colleen, it's always a pleasure to help you out. Besides, every time I respond to a question here, I somehow learn or remember something I used to know from my own answer. I think all your questions are great!!!

You guys are just all really swell in my book !!! I really am greatful for all you folks too. I'm actually humbled in your presence. And as you probably know, for me to say **I'm humbled** is a LOT !!!! LOL !!!! But as I said, when I can, I like to give something back to the profession and this is one good way to do it. The ones who don't do it, for whatever reason, I think are just kind of living in a vacuumm and there's no benefit to that.

I'll work on the workshop concept. I think that'd be pretty neat.

But in the meantime, we sort of hit on something in another thread regarding gallery fees and putting together neighborhood co-op photography galleries to teach, get your work in public view and share live critiques with other photographers. Whaddya think?

As always, take it light and have a wonderful week !!!
Mark
