Scanning Photos

I am looking for information on scanners. I have an Epson flatbed that does a great job but is slo-o-w! I have looked at the Kodak feeding scanners and talked to their rep and they are supposed to be just fine. I know there are some experiments with their big i660 ($40,000) for shoebox scanning and wonder if anyone has used any of their smaller scanners for photos. I don't want to put my photos in the mail to one of the "shoebox" places, I just want to get through my many boxes of photos and get them digitized quickly. One I am looking at is the i1220. Any ideas?
