Printer question - Epson 925 or similiar

Could someone tell me about how many 4x6" photos can be printed from one set of cartridges using the Epson 925 or similiar photo printer? I would probably be printing on a normal setting. Thanks!

Epson 925 BLACK ink is $25.60
Epson 925 Color ink is $21.84

4X6 Prints cost 12 cents each at
WalMart.com and 17 cents each at
Costco.com.

50 Prints will cost under $10.00.

My advise is to let a lab print them if you have several to print.

Otherwise, not sure if anyone has counted how many prints can come from a set of cartridges. It all depends on the images. Do they contain a lot of color? Mostly black? The best bet would be to check the owners manual. They always note the average life of the printer, maybe the ink as well.

Good Luck.

Some years ago I did a study on ink utilization for the HP 952C. The tricky part is determining how much ink is used for a typical photograph. Since every image is unique and DPI is a variable, all one can do is average.

My notes are long gone as to percentages of cyan – magenta – yellow – black however I was able to recover one of my spread sheets. It shows I used an average of 1.5ml per 1 sq. ft.

Now a color cartridge contains 19ml.
How many sq. ft. per cartridge 19 ÷ 1.5 = 12.6 sq. ft.
That’s 12.6 x 144 = 1,814 sq. inches
A 4 x 6 is 24 sq. inches
How many 4 x 6’s?
1814 ÷ 24 = 75.5

75 units is just a guess don’t you know!

Caterpillar: No. "Exaketededly" what is your problem?
Alice: Well its exak... exact... Its precisely this. I should like to be a little larger, sir.
Caterpillar: Why?
Alice: Well, after all, three inches is such a wretched height, and...
Caterpillar: [suddenly angry] I am "exaketededly" three inches high, and it is a very good height indeed!
Alice: But I'm not used to it. And you needn't *shout*!

Thanks so much Willie and Alan!

I have been asked to shoot a Valentine's dinner as a favor where I attend church. They want the prints made immediately so they can give them to the couples attending. They are buying the ink, but I needed an idea of how many cartridges it would take. After Googling the 925 I ran across some info at Steve's Digicams that indicated for stand alone printing with a 4mp camera it can take from 1:35 minutes to over 7 minues to do a 4x6" print. I have a 10mp camera so I don't know how that would affect the time. At any rate it looks like it would be too time consuming to print the shots at the dinner.

BTW, I haven't used this printer since I got it for Christmas I can't remember how many years ago (2003?). Just after it came out Sam's Club started making prints from digital cards at less money than the ink costs. I haven't used it since.
