Super Crisp pictures

Does a super sharp picture require a great lens? I have the Nikon D70 with the 18-70 ED lens that came with it. It is suppose to be a good lens, BUT I cant seem to get my pictures as sharp as I want. It has nothing to do with blurriness. For example the picture below, not blurry in any way, but not as sharp as some I have seen. If you want me to compare it with another I have seen, I can post it (if I am allowed to post someone elses picture as reference)
Any ideas??
Desiree

Sorry Desiree, your photo didn't upload. Is it in your gallery?

About the lens, generally a better lense, will give you a sharper picture. As long as your lens is a pretty good one, you should be able to get nice sharp photos though.

Another thing to think of, is that the photo you have been looking at has probably been sharpened in PS.
