Multiple Digital Editing and Design Questions
Ok,quick background, I am a entry level photographer at best. I shoot most of my pics with A digital Rebel xti, use paint shop pro for editing, and effects. I currently use a dell laptop. I was wondering if anyone had preference in computers, I mean which is better for editing and graphics, a PC or an Apple with Mac. Also I cant say I am an expert with Paint Shop Pro, but is photoshop the way to go? And finally is there any hardware out there that is good for photo projects that could replace using a mouse? Thanks in advance. Chris

You can edit photos on PC's and on Macs. Here's a list of photo editors you can choose from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_raster_graphics_editors. For newbie's on PC's I advise: Picasa2 (http://picasa.google.com/; FREE). For newbie's on Macs I advise: iPhoto (included with new (i)Macs; http://www.apple.com/ilife/iphoto/). When you've got a couple years experience and want to upgrade you may want to consider that 8 out of 10 pro photographers use Apple hard- and software for editing and storage.

For "hardware [...] that could replace using a mouse" you may want to look at socalled graphics tablets: http://www.wacom.com/index2.cfm?lang=en.
