International Pet Owners Club

Hey guys,
I've just recently gotten an email from Int. Pet Owners Club, saying to take down "slanderous" comments on BP which call them a scam. Here's the email:

We do not appreciate your slanderous comments made about our company. We do our best to run a business that is fun and enjoyable. Our customer satisfaction rate is 99.9%. Our record with the Better Business Bureau is perfect. Please remove the negative post from the message board and refrain from calling our business a "scam". Although you may not like the way we run our business, calling it a "scam" is slanderous and can bring unnecessary legal action against you. A "scam" does not have a 99.9% satisfaction rate. We are not trying to cause you grief, we are simply protecting our business and the jobs of all of our loyal employees.

Please let us know when the message is erased from the message board.

I wrote back saying:

First of all, please direct me to the exact comments you are talking about. Second of all, I don't ever remember calling your company a scam, only a scheme(which it is), and advising people to not participate.

Then they wrote back saying:

your comments:
It sounds like a spin off of "Cutest Pets Contest". And that one IS a scam, so I would imagine that this one is too.

Every business is a scheme. Take for instance Better Photo. Their "scheme" is to get photographers to visit their site to sell classes on photography and advertising. You do all the work and they make money.

Telling people not to get involved with our website is ok because you are giving an opinion. Telling people our site is a scam is not. It is slanderous. Our products are enjoyed by over 99% of the people who order from us. Unless you have ever ordered from our company you are really not the person to tell others to avoid us.

Your photos listed on your better photo page are really good. You would not appreciate us telling people that you are running a photography scam by trying to sell your photos:) You are running a photography scheme by trying to sell your photos. Scheme is WAY different than scam.

Hope you understand our side of the issue. I would be happy to mail you one of our books if it would change your perception of our company.

We do not have legal problems because we are not a scam.

Thanks!

So, I was wondering, have any of you gotten something similar to this? Also, do they honestly have anything against me? In case any of you have forgotten, these are the same guys as picture.com, ILP, et cetera.

PS, we really need an other category...As is, I just had to stick this in the Digital Photography section.

Who Me?
Sounds like a B.K. scammer. Don't worry they only can sue your parents.

"Int. Pet Owners Club" is the biggest scam/scheme ever. I sent them $300 and never got my album and they keep saying its coming and that was 4yrs ago. I now realize that the picture that I got in the book was a dud.

I think Dr.E owns "Int. Pet Owners Club"

Hey Brendan: You could send them a note back saying they've apparently got you confused with someone else, however, in your opinion as theirs, they're crooks. And...between you and the others who have lost money in their scam, you, among others, would be glad to let the Federal Trade commission and Postal Inspection Service decide who's more correct. In the meantime, you think returning the money they've taken without performing what they agreed to do would go some distance toward showing good faith on their part.
Take it light
Mark

  Thanks guys!

I think I'll just do what Mark said, and tell them that we would be happy to let the Federal Trade commision and others decide who's right.

I'll keep you posted on what they say.
