Nikon d80 When one goes to sporting icon on the D80 the camera goes to auto focus ,auto flash mode or it goes to the manual mode ?

I am not a D80 user but when selecting "sport" on most camera's, you are letting the camera decide the exposure settings which may or may not be correct for the effect you want. Manual mode will give you control of your aperture & shutter speed so you can control light & sharpness. Auto Focus can be used in any mode. Sport mode may not allow you to de-activate the flash but you can control this in manual mode.
