Images Looking Dark on another moniter

Hello - I was looking at my photos in my gallery here at BetterPhoto, and decided to check them out on my husband's computer; with horror, I noticed they all look dark and murky on his monitor, but fine on mine! (When I send my images to my photolab, they come out like I see them on my monitor, so I thought they were "right." ) I don't want to think that they really look horrible in my gallery here - this is probably a ridiculous question, but how do I find out how they really look? Thanks, everyone is so helpful here, I learn so much every visit!

"Feline Gaze" is way too dark, but the rest are pretty okay. If they look right in the prints (and my computer), it is probably a problem with the dark monitor. Do a search online for "monitor calibration" and try out the calibration guides you find on his computer.

  Hi Pamela,
Buy Spyder2 monitor calibration software for your monitor and you may also want to set your camera for Adobe RGB (not sRGB). You will notice a big difference. At work I am stuck with an uncalibrated monitor and believe me, every picture looks bad. At home my calibrated monitor looks sharp and prints exactly as I see them on my screen and its a joy to see the vibrant colors of everyones beautiful photos and I know when I adjust my photos, it is displaying correctly so I can enhance the good and correct the bad. I know it aint cheap (between $100-$250) but it makes that much difference that I think its worth it.
