How to avoid reflection on glass

I am trying to take a photo of a picture that is on metal which has a lacquer coating; much like a car finish. I keep getting a reflection and glare. How do I avoid this?

Have even lights, two, at an obtuse angle. If the reflection is you, then you may have to surround the picture with black fabric, black poster board, something similar to block off reflections from the room. And that may mean having to shoot thru a hole in something directly in front of the picture to block off a reflection of yourself.

I might add, if it is lighting reflecting back- try raising your lights a bit higher and tilting the pictures top toward you.
This just makes it hard to come up with a devise to hold it.
If on a wall, try fishing line, and Photograph from below it.
Some things just take try, try and trying again.
add a Polorizer as well.

I hope this helps,
