Photography Question

Kimi A. Phillips

BetterPhoto discussions

I am new to this and am wondering how to submit photos for discussion/feedback. Does that only happen when you enter the daily contest? I noticed some photographers have several pictures listed on recent uploads-how do you do this? If the photos I'd like feedback on are already on my gallery, do I still have to upload them here again? Thank you! Kimi

Kimi, The key to successfully attaching an image to your question or discussion is to sign in first. Then, when you reply, as I am doing here, you should enter your message and scroll down the page and select the number of images to go with your question/discussion. I find it easier to already have the image in my gallery and use the photo ID number to select the image.

John

If you want to post a photo in the Constructive Critique section all you need to do is click on "discuss this photo" Enter you comment/question and slect Construtive Critiques as the category then click Submit

It didn't use to work for me. Hehe. Cool! But it thanked me for uploading a different picture than the one I really put in this discussion. Weird...

Sure, you can ask a question in the forum and then put in a picture, but I'm not sure if that's Kimi's question.

To get a discussion on a picture so it says under the picture "Discussion" or whatever, all you have to do is upload the picture. If it's already uploaded, great! You can be the first one to comment on a picture in order to ask a question on it or prompt a discussion. Just find the picture you like and click "Discuss" below it. Then choose Constructive Critique (or whatever) and ask for people to critique it. It will show up on a list of recent discussions.

True, if a picture was entered to the contest right after being uploaded it will have a higher chance of getting a discussion, but this is just because lots of people check the recent contest entries page. But you can have a discussion on any photo.

In order to upload without putting it into the contest, just go to your member center and click on step 2: Upload New Photos.

Any time you upload a picture it will show up in the recent uploads page.

Remember to size the pictures to 480 pixels (exactly) on the short size before uploading.

Welcome and happy shooting!

BTW, a picture shows up on the recent entries and recent uploads page in order of being uploaded, so if you wait to put a picture in the contest it won't show up on top. And if you check the recent uploads too long after you actually upload, you're going to find your picture is not even on the first page!

Thanks so much for all the advice! I think I'm getting the hang of it now!
