Shadow while using wide angle lense

I recently purchased a CannonA630 and a wide angle lense, I am a Realtor and taking interior pictures in tight spots is tough! I really know nothing about photography, just want to make my clients houses look somewhat better. When I take pictures with the wide angle lense, sometimes there is a weird shadow. Can you clue me in? Thanks for your time!

If the shadow is showing up at the bottom of your images, then that is caused by the lens hood interfering with the pop up flash. Remove the lens hood and try again.

My guess it is the wide angle lens itself that is blocking light from the built-in (not pop-up) flash. And/or the wide angle lens takes in a wider view that the flash cannot cover. Shoot without flash, or get an accessory slave flash (or two), such as Canon HF-DC1, Metz 28 CS-2, or similar cheaper models from Sunpak, Phoenix, etc.

Sounds like Jon is on the right track. See what happens when a Nikon man trys to give advice on a Canon product? Anyhow, got your email Valerie and I sent you a response.

Thanks!
