What is the place to see semi-finalist list? A friend just told me I was on the semi-finalist group, I didn't know there was such a place. Where do I find it??? jo ann c.

Jo Ann, There are Finalists, and winners chosen from the Finalists. That's all. If you were a Finalist, you would have been contacted already. There's always next month.

Hey Jo Ann, there was a few pages posted with semi-finalists on it. One of mine was in there too. It's hard to find but the address is in the countdown to november thread somewhere. I didn't get a badge but it was fun to see mine in there.

there are actually 3 or 4 levels runners up .. semi semi finalists and semi finalists .. just keep reducing the last number in the browser address of any month's finalist page to find them

Yeah, and view it while you can. After announcing the location in the Q&A it's bound to disappear like it did last time someone announced it in the Q&A. Don't even bother looking for them come January. I can tell you exactly what will happen. You'll go through the site looking and you'll click on a number and it will dump you back to the homepage. There will be several numbers in a row like that and you will know you found them only all you'll see is the homepage. Does anyone know why BP wouldn't want us looking? Part of that answer may be unnecessary emails to the staff. I've heard they get email from people whining about why their entry didn't go any further than Runner's Up. BTW, this is all speculation on my part. I don't know any of the staff and have never even met them. It's all grapevine type gossip, but it makes sense to me. I would hide the rounds too. Have fun while it lasts. It was a fun secret for a while anyway.

I had no idea this was a secret when I asked the question! I was not told it was and just wanted to see some of the others. I was in the semi group and was thrilled! See no reason for folks to get upset over why they don't win?? You either win or don't, as long as I have fun making images and I like them, that should be enough. Naturally I would be even more thrilled to have the judges select mine too, but am not going to call and complain to them or anything like that. Maybe because I am a new photographer (since Mar 06) I don't "get it"? I have so much to learn and appreciate the BP community helping me and have made friends with some excellent photographers. Sooo, if I caused a problem, I am sooo sorry! Happy New Year to all, "go out and shoot something" and enter it in the contests!

Jo Ann, I apologize. I shouldn't have been so abrupt. A lot of people have had fun watching the rounds then someone posted the link in a Q&A (long ago, not recently at all) and they abruptly disappeared. I suspect they'll disappear again. I personally don't see what it hurts to watch them (unless BP just doesn't want members seeing so much of the judging process) if people would not email the staff with "issues". I wish they would at least post them after the announcement so we could see how far a photo progressed if we wanted but going by what I've seen in the past I imagine they'll bury them again. None of it really matters. It's just something interesting to watch. A photo won't do any better or worse for watching the process and it tells a photographer absolutly nothing about how good a photo is since judging is subjective anyway. I hope you all have a Happy New Year too!

I stand corrected. I guess since I haven't entered anything in the contest in a while, and haven't been keeping up with the countdown threads, I missed this.
