Becoming a finalist? Who or what decides on the "finalist" entries?

There is a panel of judges who select the finalists and winnners. There are a TON of entries every month, it must be a challenge to go through them all! :)

I've seen reference in forum threads suggesting that the last entries are the best judged due to the volume of photos. Loved your gallery!

I think that's just a theory. I don't think there's really any evidence to back it up.

Hey Samantha; I would tend to think after 15 months on this website, that someone is feeding you sour grapes... I had 3 Finalists in this past contest (November results) and all of them are VERY old images that have been in my gallery for awhile, and in fact, were submitted into prior months contests once before, but went nowhere. Since a photo is assigned a unique Photo ID# the moment you upload it to BP, and that # is used to sort all the Contest Entries in chronological order, that means my photos are considered "old"---in fact, they are all shown on page 14 or 15 of the Finalists right now! In addition to that, in 3 prior months, the first photo I entered each month, made Finalist. (ie, 10/1, 8/1 and 7/1 entries) So, I don't believe "latest entries are judged best" is at all meaningful.

That's good to know. I was just reading some of the threads in the forum. I was hoping there wasn't any truth to those suggestions. :-) Must have be frustration threads. There are so many photos uploaded and entered it must take quite some time to select the finalist entries!
