Photography Question

George

Are lenses from Rebel G compatable with 300d?

I think I understand that the Canon Rebel 300D can take any EF lens but I just want to make absolutely sure before I buy.

I found a deal on a Rebel G with a 75-300 canon lens that is cheaper than I can get the lens alone for. If it is an EF lens is it exactly the same as if I would buy one specifically for a dslr?

Yes, the Digital Rebels (300D/350D/400D) can use every Canon EF lens ever made, plus the newer EF-S lenses.

Now does that mean that they will have complete functionality? Autofocus etc.? How do I find out what other Canons use the EF mount? Sorry for such basic questions but...hey, that's what these boards are for, right? Knowledge:)

Canon introducted the first EOS camera, EOS 650/QD, in 1987 with the EF lenses. All EF lenses can be used on the EOS cameras with full functionality. The newer EF-S lenses can be used on only a few digital cameras. If you are interested, go to Canon's camera museum and you will see ALL their cameras' history.

Hi George- I don't know the technical side of it all, but the Rebel G was my first SLR (I still own it) and now I have the XT / 350D and all the EF lenses I have are fully compatible.

BUT there is some loss of wide angle in the conversion from what has been explained to me. (I have the 28mm-105mm lens, and with the conversion it's actually more like starting at 40mm, not 28mm)

Maybe someone can give you more specifics on this, I'm no expert on the technical stuff like I said :)
