which compact camera do you use/recommand? Hi all, I own a DSLR (Canon 30D) and I'm thinking about getting a compact camera, without losing too many features of the DSLR (I know it's still not the same). The reason is that I want something that I can carry around easily to encourage more "shooting". I'm into photo-documentary style and my hands are relatively small. The Canon 30D is sometimes a burden :). I'm not giving up on the 30D, just want a daily-use camera. eg: what's the take on the canon G7? Suggestions & advises are welcomed.

Carolyn, I highly recommend the high-end digital cameras from Canon-specifically, the G6 (which can still be found). I shot with the G6 for about a year before mmoving up to DSLRs. Canon has brought out their G7, but it does not shoot in RA which I find odd. However, the G7 may have other desirable features thta would be important to you. Going with Canon would allow you to use your external flashes you use for your 30D. Check out camera info on this site and www.dpreview.com before making a decision. John

Hi Carolyn, If you want "a compact camera, without losing too many features of the DSLR" you may want to consider the brandnew Fujifilm Finepix S6000fd (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/FujifilmS6000fd/). It is loaded with features. A regular Swiss Army knife among compact camera's. 'Compact' of course being relative here, but 'compact' certainly applies when compared to the schlepping around of dSLR gear.
