Photography Question

For the film guys...Velvia's coming back!

Kind of old news, I heard about this a few weeks ago, and it might even have been posted here but just thought I'd share for those film fogies!

Anyways there is a proposed release date of around Spring 2007. Enjoy!

"Velvia II" (proposed name).

Yep. It's been available for awhile, at least at B&H. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=371&A=details&Q=&sku=387542&is=USA&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation

But I think they're just calling it Velvia 100 rather than Velvia II at least for the time being. I ordered some last week to give it another shot although I prefer the Sensia and Arista blends myself but still nothing over KPR 64 or Kodachrome Pro 200. I just wish Kodak was still making it in 120 or 4x5 formats .

As long as we're on the "F" word subject, Justin have you gotten a chance to try this EFKE black and white film yet? Very nice stuff, especially when you run it through a really fine grain developer like Rodinal, UFG or something of that ilk. :>) B&H (go figure) about $3.50 for a roll of 36 or 120.

Doing well I hope Justin? Staying busy, keeping IN trouble I hope. ;>)
Later buddy.
Mark

Hey Mark what's going on? Of course I'm staying IN trouble! hahaha. (with my wife for buying lenses and films and radio triggers and flat screen TV's, etc!) lol. anyways they released the Velvia 100 to replace the 100F. NOW since they've stopped production of the old Velvia 50, they're starting again with their new technologies and reintroducing it, labeling Velvia II from what I understand. So I guess they'll have both, 50 & 100. Which would be nice when you want an extra stop without having to push. Anyways I've not been to the local college lately to develop so I haven't tried any B&W's but I'll definitely take your recommendation to heart and try the EFKE stuff as soon as I can. Is there just one kind, or multiple? Yeah I need to find some Rodinal. I'm moving to Indiana in February so I'm not even messing with my developers until I get home. Well you take care buddy and how often do you make it to the ol' Chi-town? I could make the drive sometime once I make it home to go shooting together. See ya lata man!

Hey !!! Rodinal you can get by the truckload (or lesser quantities) at either B&H or Freestyle. Some outfit took over the chemical division from Agfa and rescued it, I guess. Didn't know that about the two kinds of Velveeta, 50 AND 100. Cool, because you know what happens when you push process Velvia, right? Yikes !!!! The contrast level goes off the charts. That's why I stopped using it after I tried it out long ago. Printers couldn't separate it properly because it was just a tad too contrasty. Nice reds and greens though. ;>)

Efke comes in 25, 50, 100, 200 and 400 speeds. It's the older style panchromatic emulsions, a lot like Verichrome Pan, from what I hear. I just ordered a bunch of it in the slower speed to compare it to Ilford Pan F.

Man, what I wouldn't give to be eating an Italian Beef sandwich on the corner of Michigan and Wacker Drive while shooting the Wrigley Building at night. No plans to get there in the immediate future, but when I get a gig there, I'll be glad to let ya know and hire your talents as an assistant and THEN go out shooting for fun. Still got two good clients there so perhaps sooner rather than later, I hope. And of course at the same time, I could get you in deeper trouble with Ashley taking you down to Helix Photographic on S. Racine which, oddly enough, has 5 stories of photo gear stacked neatly above the Speedotron strobe factory. LOL !!! Oh, and Central Camera on S. Wabash, Shutan Camera on Wacker, oh and Calumet, btw. :>)) Take it light buddy. Be well.
