small images

I would like to list several small items on e-bay, but am having trouble getting a clear image. I have a 3.1 mp camera. Am wondering if a 35mm with a zoom lens would produce a clearer picture?

The amount of mega pixels has no affect on the clarity of your images - especially for the very small file size needed for Ebay pictures. And changing to 35mm film may not help either.
I'm guessing your problem is that your digital camera simply cannot focus close enough to get your small images into focus. It could also be due to camera shake during the exposure, if your shutter speed is fairly slow, and your are having to hand hold.
To shoot small objects you need a lens capable of focusing extremely close, and a tripod to steady the camera during exposure. In place of the latter, you might try shooting your subjects outdoors where the light would be brighter.
