what are the best ways to protect my images from being stolen on-line. and how?? watermark??

  Don't put them on-line! Well, failing that, put only low resolution inages on line: that won't stop someone copying them but will greatly limit the use they can be put to, and therefore the value of stealing them.
You could add a visible copyright symbol, but anyone savvy enough to steal the picture will also have little trouble in cropping or clonbing it out. A better proposition is to add copyright information to the EXIF / IPTC information so that you have evidence embedded invisibly in the image to prove you own the image, and there is a growing movement towards online registration of photographs (see for example, http://www.creativepro.com/story/news/24489.html).
