Check out this thread, Stan; about 6 messages down in it, I posted my steps (using PSE2) and I think it works perfectly, without that image>apply. http://www.betterphoto.com/forms/QnAdetail.php?threadID=26212

Thank you, Stan! I have two images on the first page I believe, that have the Orton steps applied. Let me know how it works out for you!

I tried out Chris's Orton method yesterday and it works great. The first image on my gallery shows the result (I also desaturated one of the layers). I use PSE3.

Thx Marianne, where I am getting lost is the second step, after you make a dup. not sure where this "apply image box is in PSE3

I used Chris's method too (using layers, not duplicate images) on several images, (zebra pano, pumpkins, the old barns) and it worked great. I was much easier than making duplicate images and worked just as well. And you don't need the 'apply>image' which was good because PSE2 doesn't have it either. :-)
