Will I have problems 28-200 XR Tamron w/flash?

Hello,

I have an ELAN7 and a Tamron 28-300 lens. Unfortunately, when I take pictures with the built in flash, the lens is so long ( even at 28mm ) that I get a nasty shadow at the bottom of the photo. This, from what I have been told, normal for this long lens.

I would like to know if anyone can tell me whether the Tamron 28-200 XR lens would cause the same effect. The tamron web site reads that this new lens is design to avoid this problem ( it's really small ) but I would love to hear from perhaps someone who has had experience with this lens/camera.

Will the 28-200XR cause the same problem?

Thanks!

  Hi there,

The shadow at the bottom is most likely not from the lenght of your lens, but rather the shutter speed. The shadow at the bottom is produced when the curtain at the back of the camera closes too fast to allow all the light from the flash to enter, so at that instance the film is not exposed. I hope this makes some sense, since I know I did not explain very well.

To correct this all you need to do is slow down to the shutter speed that matches the flash (usually 1/60 sec). You have to check your owners manual to be sure! When you sincronize both (flash and shutter) your pics will come out right.

Rock on,
Vasko
