Just made my first $1!!

Yippee! I've made my first dollar on microstock! Okay, I'm not ready to switch careers just yet, but it's still way cool! :)

By the way, I had never heard of microstock before finding BP. Thanks to everyone out here for all the tips and advice. An extra special thanks goes out to Tracy, Sharon, Margie and Robyn! :)

I haven't made any money yet, but I'm building my stock portfolio now. 13 photos so far, lol ...I'm not sure how to direct you there to view them, but if your interested in taking a peek, email me.

Looks like to me it's a good thing for
the microstock Co. From what I read on their site they can sell it for whatever they want and do with it what ever they want and give you a whole 25¢.
A photo for a calender would be worth far more than one for a child's class project.
But you get 25¢
I would like to see something better than what I've found.
Wayne

I was actually very surprised to see that $1 today. I just started with stockxpert.com yesterday and had a sale today. I've been on Dreamstime for more than a week and have just had a few views, so I was very pleasantly surprised to see a sale on stockxpert today!

Wayne, the $.25 is usually for things such as website design, etc. I just received $20.00 for a download that would be used for saleable items like t-shirts, mugs, greeting cards, etc. There are specific usage fees for each type of the download and the fee corresponds to the usage.

As usual Margie, I'm just not as well informed as I need to be.

Congratulations, Deb!!! I am up to $70 in about 8 weeks. While I'm not getting rich it's more than I make with my just images sitting on my HD.

Wayne, I understand microstock isn't for everyone and I agree that .25 is way too cheap for a photo, but there is a place for microstock as well as the better paying stock sites. Realistically speaking who is going to pay a couple hundred for a photo of a wrench or a screw or even a photo of a veggie isolated against a white background? Those kinds of photos sell over and over at a microstock site. I have one photo that has sold 55 times and I have made $13.75 on it. I think I can safely say it's not the type of image that would interest Getty or their clients.

Good luck to everyone however or wherever they choose to sell their photos!

Well said, Sharon! By the way, check out Stockxpert if you haven't yet. They charge $1 per download and they seem to get a lot of traffic. I've gotten lots of view in just two days whereas the same images on Dreamstime have had only a couple of views in more than a week.

Deb, I have found Stockxpert very difficult to navigate. I've been accepted, but I can't seem to find where to upload more shots. Can you guide me?

Yeah I found it difficult at first too! Once you sign in, click on "My Images" in the menu on the left. Then click on the "Upload" tab along the top. This will allow you to upload five images at the same time. I only do one at a time here though.

They also have an ftp option. Go to ftp://stockxpert.com and sign in with your username/password. Then you drag and drop your files onto the browser. They still only upload one at a time, but you can go back and do any editing later (keywords, titles, categories, etc.). After you've uploaded using ftp, go to the "SXP Briefcase" tab to find those images. From there you can move them to another folder. They also give you the option of creating folders to stay more organized which is kind of cool.

I've found them to be a lot more picky than Dreamstime, but they are very quick at getting images reviewed. I've had images uploaded to DT since the 25th and still have not heard back. I don't think they (DT) work on the weekends. I was uploading to Stockxpert last night though and up until about 10:00 eastern, I was getting reviews within minutes.

Thanks, Deb. I had found that area once before, but one thing I don't understand is why there is only place for title and keywords yet 5 uploads possible. If you upload 5 photos at a time, will the title and keywords be put with all of them? Until then, I guess I'll upload one at a time...but very time consuming. Are you getting alot of downloads from them?

That's why I only upload one at a time on that page. I don't understand it either! lol

I guess it's useful if you have a series of similar images. Of course, they discourage similar images so I don't know how it could be very useful.
