Tighten down Manfrotto 3021 pod My 3021 Manfrotto pod has loosened over the years, and while I have the little wrench with which it came, I cannot find the directions on how to make this happen. Can anyone advise me how to tighten the legs? Thanks. Bunny

What part of the pod has gone loose, Bunny? My 3021 came with a wrench that tightens the "telescopic leg extensions". If that part is the problem, I have instructions, but for other parts, no instructions...

Yes. If you mean the legs as they extend out. The clamps can no longer hold tightly and however the wrench is used, that telescopic part needs to be tightened down. Can you describe or photograph the section of the manual that tells how this is done? Or, if you have tightened down yours, can you explain carefully how I can get to whatever screw is needed to tighten down? Another alternative is a web site that illustrates the procedure than is in the manual...if you know of one. Thanks for replying. Bunny

Hi Andy, You are very busy today. :-) Thank you for the website and for responding. I'm certain it can be fixed myself if I could figure out how it is suppose to be done. Do you of any online manuals which illustrate how to get to the screw that needs to be tightened? I don't want to trade in this tripod, which does not tip over with the wind, and which I only use close to home. But, I'm considering replacing the Manfrotto 3001BPRO, which is much tippier. I'm not worried so much about it breaking, as blowing over. Do you know if the Gitzo's, for example, are designed to prevent them from being blown over, say with a 15 mph wind? I would generally not be out shooting with a 50+ mile a hour wind. Thanks. Bunny

ok... These are the part labels: A -> locking lever N -> is the special key, ie. the wrench P -> is the screw (the opposite of the locking lever A): it's actually the nut part of the screw. ..."Release lock lever "A", then turn the screw "P" clockwise using the special key "N" provided on one of the tripod legs. Normally a third of a turn will be sufficient to achieve the correct locking tension." I will scan the illustration and post it if needed.
