Topcon 50VT Polaroid attachment

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Topcon 50VT retinal camera. I purchased a used one recently which takes OK 35mm images, but get no exposure when I take a Polaroid image. Is this due to the upper mirror problem which some people have mentioned? Does this make my camera non-upgradeable to digital? Thanks for any advice you can give me

I have a 50VT and like you, I purchased mine used. Couple of issues with the Polaroid back:

1) Does it sound like it's working? Loud click and film pop out from the side but just all black?
2) Switch your camera from lower 35mm to upper 35mm and see thru the top hole wheather the mirror flips up or not. If you can't see the mirror flip, take off the back 35mm and manually stick your finger in there to flip the mirror while you're toggling the switch from lower to upper. If the mirror flips, then the solenoid is working properly. You may have to toggle the switch a few times to "loosen" the mirror a bit, if the top port was never used.

We have a big thread going with the conversion of the topcon to digital over here. Just do a search on topcon. See my galleries from some digital photos with my conversion.

Good luck,
George
