Photography Question

picture of a picture

Hi! This is my first time here and I have a major photo question. I have a snap shot of a picture I want to submit but the only way I can send it to the intended person, via email, I have to take a picture of the picture using my older digital camera. It uses the hard floppy. I keep getting glare and can't get rid of it. Can anyone help? If you can, can you please email me? tivawallon@excite.com please put in the subject line, photo question.
Thank you
T

sorry, I don't quite get your question. Glare? Is it because your flash is reflecting off a glossy picture? If the picture is yours (by which means you have authorship and can legally reproduce it) then go to FedEx-Kinkos and scan it.

Hard floppy? What does the floppy have to do with the glare?

"shoot at a 45 degree angle."

Huh?
You probably mean to have the light hit the subject photo at a 45 degree angle (or less).
The camera ought to be perpendicular to it.

no.apparently she can't change where the lights are so she needs to change her shooting angle.and she may be using her camera flash, don't know, sam

  Scanning at kinkos is right.

At 45 deg, the picture would look skewed. It depends on the kind of paper the picture is made of, but if the overhead lights are at an angle, glare should be reduced.

Hi all. The picture in question is a 5 x 7 glossy. I am not very good when it comes to using and understanding computers and camera's. I am a writer and want to try and create my own book covers. I have the perfect snapshot for the cover of my next book. The picture was taken using a 35mm Nikon. In order for me to be able to send that picture to my publisher along with my manuscript is if I attach it to the email. The only way I know how to do that is to take a picture of the snapshot using my digital camera, which uses a floppy. Now I have a scanner, which is new and I don't know how to use the darn thing yet.
Any ideas?

Yes. The scanner should do the job. Probably, you can connect the black box plug to the wall and the other part to the scanner, and then connect a USB plug into the computer and scanner, and Windows will install it for you. But it's likely that won't work, so just read the instruction manual and that will tell you what to do.

Another option would be to have some store scan your photo and put it onto a CD which you could use for the digital copy.

Does the publisher want to use the actual digital copy you are sending, or does he just want to see what your picture looks like?

If the quality at this point isn't really important, since your print is glossy, take it outside, lay it down at an angle to the sun, and shoot straight on.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions. No I am not sending my manuscript via email, just the picture. My publisher wanted to see the picture. He approved and would like me to send a quality shot. I figured I would take the picture to a store and use their scanner and their help. I'm also going to check out my local school and take up a night course in photography and another class in computers.

Thanks again for all your help.
