Flash...! I am just curious about two different flashes I am looking at. I notice the canon 350D supports E-TTL/TTL2 and TTL. What are the differances? What if the flash I purchase does not have E-TTL but is a dedicated TTL flas. How would the E-TTL improve my photos or make it easier. I want to make the right purchase, but I can't afford a Canon Speedlight. I only have a budget of $100.00. The Bower is $80.00 and the Pheonex is $95.00 and they both support E-TTL and TTL. There is another for $40.00 but only suports TTL- all do bounce and swivel...Thank you

The 350D, like other Canon DSLRs, does not support traditional TTL. A flash has to either emulate E-TTL, or be a non-dedicated auto-thyrister type (like Sunpak 383 Super). An E-TTL flash will fire a pre-flash before the shutter opens that the camera measures with its evaluative meter. From that the camera calculates the proper flash output to fire a split second later when the shutter opens.

Thank you for responding. So what you are saying is that I should make sure that any flash I purchase MUST have E-TTL support? If I had a flash that only supports/has TTL, it will not work properly with my Reble XT? Thank you.

Right. E-TTL good, TTL no good.
