Photography Question

Purposely Blurred Images - yes or no

I've noticed a big trend towards the 'desired' blur - someitmes I like it, sometimes I don't - like all things in photography its very subjective. I'd love comments on this Kingfisher - He'd just shot into the dam, and was on his way out when I panned and shot (purposefully of course) I thought it would be a sharp capture (my birds never are!!) but yet I'm pleased with this, as I feel it shows the speed of the bird? Anyone else feel the same. Could I enter it? Thanks

Hey Robyn! If it were mine, I'd really play down the background in PS, and UP the saturation on the disease carrying flying creature. Really make him pop, then it could work. Good muti.... ;>)

  There he is!
These guys are fun to watch.

imho, the background a little too busy. I may try to darken and blur the background and add contrast on the bird, too, to draw viewers' attention to the fisher.

Hocus Pocus...it's all out of focus. There's no central viewing point. Was this made with one of those lensbuddies or babes things??

The only Kingfisher I ever heard of was on the radio: No...wait a sec: That was "De Kingfish" on Amos N. Andy. 0/:>0)

  Oh, on the intentional blurring...,
Because of addion of the Special Effect category in the contest, there has been a great deal of interest and attempt be very creative.
You have the great subject here. These guys seem to repeat their dives into the water to catch their snack quite often.

Thanks all :) only babes thing was me, occasionally referred to as babes, or darl!! I think the subject is too small - might have worked if I'd been closer and isolated the bird a bit more. I've seen winners on BP though, where absolutely every was a blur, so was just wondering what makes the blur good or not i.e. grass moving/good light. They are incredibly difficult to capture - but are beautiful to capture. Thanks all anyway :)

I almost always hate it. But now and then somebody will get just the right amount of blur and it can be beautiful.
