Photography Question

Christy Freeberg

What type of lenses do I need?

I shoot wedding for friends and family, I am wondering if additional lenses and maybe an additional flash would be helpful. I have a Nikon Coolpix 8700-which I LOVE- and have this far not had the need for additional equipment. What would I want to look for to improve quality and range for my photos. What do I gain? Most of my 'issues' are corrected with software.

The lens of the CoolPix 8700 already has the most useful zoom range you would need, equivalent to 35mm-280mm. A teleconverter would not be useful for your use. A 0.6x or similar wide converter could give some interesting wide-angle shots, but is not necessary. The most useful accessory to enhance your photography would be a good, high powered speedlight (flash) with tilt/swivel head to bounce the light. This would eliminate many common problems with the built-in flash, including red-eye, blown-out near subjects, and harsh shadows.
