Category?

I would like to enter this photo but I am not sure what category? Details & Macro, Elements of Design? I used a filter, accented edges so should it be in Digital Darkroom..yikes, help!!

It's a great photo but categorizing it properly is another matter, indeed.

This is a tough call.
I would think it would be better in either Details & Macro or Digital Darkroom, while leaning more toward Details and Macro.

For Elements of Design, the photo should showcase "the line, shape, pattern, form, texture, perspective, etc..". From what I've seen in this category, strong color contrast seems to draw attention of the judges (although it is just my opinion).

I agree..I was leaning more towards detail and macro and although the photo was only manipulated slightly I did not think it fit into digital darkroom either. Thanks so much for the feedback Nobi!!

Hi Revonda and Nobi, what about entering the same photo in two different categories, on different days of course? Ever do that? Thanks.
Vicki

There is a blurb in the "How to categorize" guidlines as follow:

"In the end, a photo may fit into more than one category. For example, a landscape with strong lines leading up to a person, that you photographed in Tibet, might reasonably get categorized in Nature & Landscapes, People, Elements of Design, or the Travel & Place category.

But remember... you can only enter a particular photo into one category per month. You cannot enter a photo repeatedly in various categories. Carefully analyze your photo, compare to previous winners, and then choose the most fitting category."

So, it seems (or is) restricted to enter a photo in different categories within a month. The key word is "per month". Therefore, you may enter a photo in one category in one month, and in another category in the following month or thereafter. And if fact, this is often done. And in some cases, a photo did not win or selected in the finalist in one category but won in another category in another month.

Thanks to you both. I guess I hadn't read "How to categorize" closely. Your answer is very helpful.
