How to Send Pictures E-mail

I'd like to send some pics via e-mail for people to post on their web-sites. I take pics at small Christian School activities, soccer games, etc. What is the best way to get them quality pics via the internet? Recently, I've simply embedded 1meg. photos (like the ones I upload to my BP site) right into the e-mail note.

What "quality" is necessary for you?
What connection speed do you and those you are emailing have?

You can get fairly good looking photos for the internet by sizing to about 480x600 pixels and using about 80% jpg compression. These take up hardly any room, are large enough, and jpeg compression is hardly noticeable.

Thanks Ariel. It sounds like you do this yourself. I'll try the 480X600 using the 80% compression. Do you file attach them?

In emails, yes. (Unless the person your sending to doesn't open attachments, of course.) You must understand, though, that when you send this quality picture, it's not meant to be printed or viewed full-screen.

At 80% compression the file size goes way down, but the jpeg still is pretty good, so if needed you can include more pixels and the file still isn't too big for sending, but it depends on how many you send, for what purpose, and what the connection speed is.

Thanks Ariel, I understand. I think I am ready to proceed. Thanks for your to the point and helpful interaction. I was also impressed with your gallery. I am beginning to enjoy capturing some birds, myself. Keep up the good work.
