Going Digital I own a Minolta Maxxum 7xi film base camera, and lenses (AT-X 80-400mm, AF zoom 0.48m/1.6ft. Macro,Teleconverter 1.7x and a Macro 100mm 1:3.5). I would like to go digital. I am not a pro or anywhere near, just like to take photos. I know that my lenses will interchange with the Konica Minolta Maxxum 5D. I would like to know if my lenses will work with other Minolta Maxxum Bodies and if so which ones? and what my best choice would be - Yes I know I need to take a class!

Hi April - I recently switched from Minolta to Canon - for a variety of reasons that are not really related to your questions - but, my KM digital was the 7D and it is a great camera! All my KM lenses from my other film KM cameras fit and work well with that model. I also know that the lenses will work with the 5D. One thing you should know is that KM sold out to Sony several months back and now the cameras are being supported and sold by Sony and will, according to what I have read, be labeled as Sony by sometime next year. The Sony line will continue to accept KM lenses and other accessories. All KM Maxxum lenses are currently interchangeable with other KM Maxxum bodies digital and film. I hope that this helps. Irene Oh - one more thing; if it helps, you can go to B&H photo [http://www.bhphotovideo.com/] and look all this up on their site. They are very helpful to new photographer via telephone or e-mail and will help you figure things out without making you feel stupid or too “newbie”.

Sony bought the Digital SLR division from Minolta, The good news is that the Sony DSLR uses the minolta lens mount and your lens should work if they would work on the last Minolta DSLR made. The first Sony DSLR received good reviews. I have a 7xi with 2 lens and 7400 flash but switched to Canon when I went digital.

Thank you all for your input. It is very helpful to me. I viewed all your galleries and you have beautiful photos. It is a joy for me to view such art. Yes I do have an Olympus Digital C-700, but I don't really like the quality of the photos it takes. It is very grainy. It could be the person behind the lense! Like I said before I am not a pro, just a mom how likes to take pictures for fun. Maybe someday I will be able to become educated in the photography area and be able to call it art.
