Pre-Cut Matts

Is there anywhere in the eastern United States where I can order good quality pre-cut matts and that will be shipped quickly. I'm exhausted from searching and would love some direction. The matt size that I need at this time is 12x16 with an 8x12 window. I received beautiful prints from Mpix in two days time so I'm sure there has got to be a matt company out there somewhere that can do the same. I have my first presentation at an art gallery on the 15th and beginning to panic. HELP! Please!!

I asked a similar question. I believe Light Impressions does custom mats, though I've never used them personally so I can't tell you how fast their shipping is.

Also see their colored pre-cut mats.

Ariel is sure hot on the trail. Here's a slightly different link at Light Impressions: This one is for one type of their pre-cut mats.

If you need something that you don't see in their online catalog, just call their 800# and ask them about it. They're glad to help out.
Take it light.

Thanks for the quick response but Light Impressions is who I ordered through and everything but the poly bags is on backorder which is usually completed in 10 to 15 days. I'm afraid that this new information is why I'm panicing.

How soon do you need the mat?

Ohh... You called and they said everything is backordered? Even custom mats?

Here is what someone said to my question:

1. You can buy mat board 32X40 at chain stores like Pearl Art, AC Moore, etc. Then, with a Stanley knife, you can cut to the size you want.

2. If you want to use a window format, you'll need a mat cutter. Alto and Logan come to mind; you canspend as little as $125.00.

3. If you don't want to cut the window, you can use spray adhesive, available from any Arts and Crafts store and larger phpto shops. Note, you can use a heat press with inkjet prints.

4. You can buy hinged mats in a variety of sizes [but no colors,] at AC Moore, Michaels, Pearl, etc. You can also get them from Porters Camera.

Maybe you could go to one of these stores and see if they have the right size or buy a large mat board and a mat cutting set.

  Marian,
Try www.matshop.com or www.americanframe.com or www.framesbymail.com

I've been comparing prices for pre-cut mats and these three sites all had good prices. I haven't actually received anything from any of them - I placed an order with Matshop.com and it is on its way to me now.

I would call each of them first and ask if they can meet your schedule.

Good luck.

Great links, Chris! I like how with http://www.framesbymail.com/custom you can see how your picture looks in the mat before you buy.

Thanks one and all for the wonderful reponses. I was really stressing out and your suggestions and ideas have really relieved a lot of that. I can't say thank you enough. Sincerely,
Marian
