Photography Question

Model Let Down/Rejection??

Hi guys. I've decided to start adding some nudes (yes, if you've seen my gallery, bypassing the clothed ones altogether) to my portfolio. Ready or not, it's happening. I placed an ad on Craig's List for models, stressing the non-pornographic nature of the shots I sought, and that they would be shot on location with available light (some fill flash, too). The ad specifies that there is no monetary compensation, it will be TFP, and if the person is a pro model (aspiring) I will help build his/her portfolio. I requested head shots and descriptions from the people that reply, and have received a few replies so far (ad only placed this Friday). I haven't found the right person yet. My question is this: How do you tell them no? I'll paste the reply I used for one person:

"Hi, and thanks for the photos. I appreciate the interest, but the manner in which I plan on shooting the body and the lighting I'll want to use calls for a different body type. No offense, as there is absolutely nothing wrong with you! Thanks again and good luck."

Is this good? Do I simply say "I'll pass"?

You could say thank you for your reply, however my search is for a different look. I will keep your information in the event a shoot comes up that would better suit you.

Or, is it possible to take the pics anyway even if you are not using them?

Your response is honest, but sounds tacky to me. Maybe your ad should be more specific about what it is your looking for. Even if they are not "the body type" you'd hoped, why not work with them any way? You'll both gain from the experience. And you'll only be out the cost of a CD-R (a few cents) or a few sheets of paper and ink.

I would definitly take as many people as I could. Even if they don't match what you're going for, it would probably be a great way to get some specific practice in before you find the perfect person. It's like a rough draft for an essay. If you're good to work with then it might get your name out to more people.

I would look for them on OMP or Model Mayhem where you can at least view their portfolio...otherwise you may get stuck looking at photos wondering if its even of their face.JK Just remember you don't want to rub those people the wrong way...they may be sensative.

See, I knew something was off about it, and it is a bit tacky. I think that an amalgum of all your responses will be my reply, if, contrary to some wise advice, I decide not to take everyone! Thanks a million, ya'll.

Side note for Ollie - you have to have "model" shots in your portfolio (at least four) before you can join that site! I don't have that yet, as I have no interest in photographing clothed models. Hopefully offers will keep coming from Craig's List. And I've decided to take ya'lls advice and just accept everyone!
