Dog show photographers?
Is there anyone here who has experience in photographing large dog shows?I am going to be the OP at a National show and while I think I can work out most things, it would be great to know the workflow/tips from people who do it? One thing I'm not sure of, is how to fit in doing request shoots while you're also trying to get every single dog in the ring! Anyone done it? :) Nat

hey natalie, your 1st time doing this and you have already taken requests?priorities rule. i've done a few events, and I make sure I know the lighting, lens selection and flash possibilities in advance.where am I allowed to position myself? do you know the ins and outs of a dog show? do you know that in the staging area that you might catch a trainer with a match stick or toothpick prompting their dog to take a dump before they go on the runway? my brother shows his dog,and I have threatened for years to photograph him prancing down the runway.he knows i'll crop it to exclude the dog. hope you get a lot better info than I could afford you,sam

Um thanks, I think? I'm talking about requests on the *day*. The shows here are not as crazy as they seem to be in the US. They aren't as big and so on.
