Photography Question

Rowena Curtis

Should I take a camera specific course?

Hi. Just purchased a Nikon d-50 along with Stafford's d-50 book and another how to book is on the way. I haven't shot with an slr since college and have only used a point and shoot for the past 12 years on auto. I'm really wanting to get back into taking better pictures and not just getting "lucky". The questions is, will it be worth it for me to take this course (having already purchased books about the d-50) or should I spend the $$$ on a different course? Thanks in advance for any and all replies.

  Hi Rowena,
Thanks for your interest in BetterPhoto's courses! That's a really good question. From what you say, you probably can't go wrong with Simon Stafford's D50 course. But hopefully, some of the following info may be of use:

- Simon's a fine teacher, and his fairly new D50 course has received great reviews from people who have actually taken the course! What's nice is that these students tell exactly why they found the course of benefit. That might help you too in your decision-making process.

- If you haven't already, be sure to check out the D50 course outline.

Another class might be of benefit too. Some thoughts:

- Sometimes the specific skill level can be of use in deciding which course to take. See our recently updated - and upgraded! - Guide to Skill Levels page.

- Our brand-new Course Calculator is designed as an aid in finding the perfect class ... for you.

Hope this helps, Rowena!
Kerry
