Eli, take a look at Photo.net and the "neighbor to neighbor" section there for an alphabetical list of on and off line vendors and comments, good, bad and ugly, from buyers. If they ain't listed, I wouldn't buy from them, and if they are, see what the members at Photo.Net think about them.

Generally, if the deal sounds too great to be true, it probably is (too great to be true) you probably should avoid it and buy from a known like bhphotovideo.com.

To add to Marks post, a lot of people here deal with B&H photo, just as I have. I am extremely satisfied with the service I have recieved from this company and they score very high on resellers website.
I've never had a complaint or problem with them, even when I've had to return a defective lens. And they always responded to my e-mails regarding such things.
Another company I've dealt with and have never had a complaint or problem with is PC Connection. Though they don't carry the large photo line like B&H (lights, studio, darkroom), they are more geared to computers. They do carry a pretty full line of cameras and lenses.
Sometimes I've found a better price on PC then B&H and sometimes visa versa.
Neither probably have the low prices that you see on sites like the one you questioned about, but like Mark said, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
Usually they offer a great price, then after you make the purchase, you find out the camera doesn't come with a battery, case, strap, charger. Then when you try to buy those things, they charge an exhorborant price. I've read a post on this site about someone who had this experience. And then to top it off, when she refused to pay the price they wanted for the things that should have been included in the price to begin with, they kept putting off sending her the camera. They kept telling her the camera was on back order till she finally canceled the order. So, buyer beware!

Yeah, there are some real horror stories out there. In all honesty Eli, I think a lot of us who order regularly from B&H sleep better at night knowing that there's really a package under the tracking number supplied by customer service.

But seriously, while it's kinda nice to know you got the best deal/price on something, sometimes the best price ain't the cheapest one. I'm sure you catch our drift. In my experience, B&H delivers. If they can't, they'll tell you straight away and if something goes wrong with the deal, for any reason, they're usually pretty quick to remedy the situation.

Be well.

  Eli,
I see you're still looking for that "really low price that's not a scam" deal on a camera.

Unfortunately, that deal rarely exists. The site you list here, usaphotonation.com, and jandkcameras.com, that you listed in your other post are both listed on resellerratings.com with absolutely terrible ratings. Take a look, and you'll see post after post from customers who tried dealing with them and got burned. The eBay listings for jandkcameras look like they're trying to be honest, and at least they list specifically what is included in a package. I still wouldn't take the chance since they are associated with bestpricecameras.com, which is clearly a rip-off site.

I wouldn't be surprised if most of these "bait & switch" camera website stores were run by the same group of people operating out of a house or office somewhere. The customer stories about their tactics are just too similar to be a coincidence.

Search the Q&A here for "B&H" or "bhphotovideo" and you'll find lots of praise from satisfied customers. They are a real camera store run by real people who know what they are doing. They didn't get their great reputation by accident. Henry Posner (the H of B&H) even shows up here sometimes to thank customers for their loyalty.

Good luck!

Yeah I have been looking at B&H and it looks to be the best deal around that is legit. So I think I will go with them! thanks for the help everyone.
