Photography Question

Bobbi Agens

PaintShop/PhotoShop

I have both of these downloaded on my computer right now, Photoshop Elements and a trial version of Paintshop pro. I'm NOT asking which is "better" and don't want to start any "heat" here, I am just wondering which may be easier to use.

I'm a little too advanced to use just a beginner software, the one that came with my Nikon doesn't have enough features for even me.

I've found Photoshop a little confusing, but then again I haven't used the tutorial book and CD that I purchased either.

Guess my question here is, Is paintshop pro any user friendlier? And which features might one have that the other doesn't? Would love to see some "comparisons" here, again I'm not asking nessicarely (excuse my spelling) which is BETTER, just wanted to see some comparison. I'm REALLY interested in that smooth painted look, I also have a trial of Corel Painter, but am not ready to dive into that one yet....

Thanks! bobbi

Hi Bobbi! I use paintshop pro x. You can download a 30 day free trial. I like it because it has a learning center built right in and the directions are easy to follow. I have never used photoshop so I can't compare it to that. I hope this helps a little!

Can't really answer your question, per se, but I have read several times on this site from several people who like the 'painterly' effect better from paintshop than from PS. I don't know about user friedliness of the program. I do know that PS can be a bit overwhelming sometimes.

I have both programs, PSP X and PSE 4. PSP totally eclipsed PSE 4 in functionality, tools, and all else. It's also much faster. I ended up uninstalling PSE4 on my machine.

Thanks for the input! I guess maybe I should have played with it before I ask, but I do like the Paint shop better so far. I have the 30 day trial which is fully funtioning, but I'm sure I'm probably going to end up with this one.

I also like the way it works with the Photo Album program (which I downloaded for trial also)

Now to have some spare time to get to SHOOTING!
