Signing a photograph

I am donating a framed/matted photograph for a silent auction. It is already signed in the lower right corner (photoshopped) but I would like to title it on the mat. Also want to know if it is appropriate to sign/number/date it on the mat, and if so, where. What is the protocol for this? This was a collaboration between me & a friend. I shot the photo, he photoshopped in the knife & fork.

The only thing that I can offer is that you wouldn't number it unless it was a limited edition print you were doing. If it were me, I would paint over the photoshopped signature and hand sign on the matte. If that's too difficult, then don't sign the matte. Both places would be overkill, not to mention, tacky, in my opinion.
