How to shoot Neon Lights in the studio?

I'm going to be shooting a 'Neon-lit' table, with objects on it, in the studio. How can I balance the lights in the studio with the Neon - so that nothing on the table is 'bleached' out, by the neon?

I've photographed a lot of studio work, a lot of neon lights on location with and without strobes as fill or even primary lights and never had a neon light rise to the level of lumens that a standard studio strobe head, even one at 400 w/s would.

So, IMHO this is really an impossible question to answer unless you provide more details about your lighting equipment and subject, your set-up, the color of your background, whether your "neon" lights are really flourescent lights, what kind of light meter(s) you're planning to use, camera, whether you're shooting on film or digitally, and what, exactly, you're trying to accomplish here.

Take it light. ;>)

I wouldn't say it's impossible to answer. I would get the strobes the way you want them to light the table and whatever else. Them shoot it with no room lights on, let a slow shutter keep it open long enough to have the neon glow come thru for the apeture that you're on.
