Sunset or Sunrise

What is the technique in shutter and aperture should I set my settings on in taking a sunset or sunrise shot.
Do I need a circular polarizer filter or other special filters?

  Hi Robert!

When I shoot a Sunset or Sunrise, I shoot at the smallest FStop I can ( F27 or F22 (remember the F Stop is really the denomiator in a fraction using 1 as it's numerator, therefore a F22 is a 1/22 thus a smaller aperture setting than a 5.6 (or 1/5.6th)) Then I expose for the area a little to the side, above or below the sun and snap away.

I only own 3 filters, a yellow filter ( for black and white ), a circular polariser, and a skylight filter, and so can't comment on the special filters. In this case, experiment with the picture. Some prefer the picture with the polarizer and some without. I prefer with it.

Good Luck,
Stormie
