  Daniel,

You may have already gotten an answer to this. I use a Coolscan V. It seems to be good. I just started scanning slides this year. I have nothing to judge it against. You can look at my webpage and see what you think. The photos on the site are not as good as the full size version, but it will give some idea. I paid $800 for this.

The Nikon Coolscan 4000 ED I bought three years ago was $900.
They have come down in price considerably since then. It comes with a software package that includes Digital ICE...a good feature to have.

Every photo on my website was scanned from slides using this scanner.

Howdy Daniel: I just scored an Epson Perfection V700 flatbed scanner from B&H for about $500. It includes extremely usuable versions of Digital Ice, SilverFast and Photoshop 3 along with all the various film holders that seem to work well. Getting it set up was a snap, using it...well, there's a learning curve but I scanned all the images in my gallery and got em uploaded in just a few hours. To me, that says a LOT for the software and ease of equip. use.

Oh, and BTW, the V700 gets consistently high marks from users and reviewers. Might want to check it out.
Mark

I rechecked my records and I actually paid around $500 for the Coolscan V.
