slr canon elan 7n Have owned the slr Canon Elan 7N for almost a month now and have enjoyed this camera very much for still life and portraits. I'm having a hard time remembering all of the custom options wondered if anyone else has had any problems or troubles with anything to do with this camera....repairs and such?

I have the Elan IIe, which is very similar. To remember what each custom function does, I created a small "cheat sheet" in Excel (or use Word or whatever program you want). I made its print size small enough to fit on the camera's back and attached it using clear packing tape over the entire square to protect it. Example (hope the column spacing works here): Function 0 1 2 1. Rewind Lo Hi 2. Leader In Out 3. Auto DX Y N 4. AF,AEL +AF +AEL +AF *AEL *AF *DoF 5. Mirror-L N Y 6. x-Sync 1st 2nd 7. AF Asst Y N 8. [( )] - o - o o o 9. Av+Flsh Auto 1/125 10. F Blink Y N 11. EC DoF Y N

I have the 7NE and also use Jon's method to create a "cheat sheet" that put as much information as possible, including all 13 custom functions, on both side of a 4x6 index card size paper and laminiated it. Then I put one in each of my carrying case. By the way, most of the functions you only need to set once and don't need to change it again. The only 3 functions I remember well is cfn 1 - film leader position after rewind, cfn 5 - mirror lock up and cfn 5 - shutter curtain sync (this one I always set to 2nd curtain sync and seldomly set to 1st). Hope this helps.
