Photography Question

Putting photos inside text

I can't for the life of me figure out how to cut out text and place pictures behind it. For instance, a name: CARTER in bold letters and put pictures of him inside the letters. HELP!!
Thanks in advance.
Janet

If you're using Photoshop CS2 or Elements 4.0 you do a text mask. It's in the text options. That may not be the correct name, but it's there.

Another way - do the text, then select it. Choose your "fill" tool or "paintbrush" tool and go to where you select a color. Instead of color, click pattern. In the patterns options, you should be able to browse for a texture/pattern and select your photo. Voila.
