Photography Question

been there doing that?

I covered the local 4day fair for the town this past week and although I know that I am not the only one that was there I was asked by a member of the board to maybe work for them next year, doing picts a few hours at a time and then posting them on a community board for people to see and then maybe pay for... Ok so that got me to thinking what about a powerpoint sort of thing...they have a huge building that they do all of the school projects and lunches in and that sort of thing...so if I could get this what is it going to take? A laptop, with powerpoint on it...a large wall/ screen to project onto...and a few order forms? Can that be all there is to it? Is there anyone here that has done something like this? Did it work? What could you see for the problems...I know that are tons but this is a year away and I was asked to come to the board meeting to talk about what it will take to get it done. I have just started to do my own photo thing and I will charge them something...but the expo. (to tons of people from the county) would be huge!

Well, you need release forms, for one thing. I though you were going to post them on a wall or something - what's up with a PP presentation? If you do a PowerPoint, you'll need a projector and a big white wall.

Good luck!

You need an assistant to prep and get the files ready for viewing while you are shooting.

You need to sell there on the spot. Otherwise, no one will buy. Event sales are all about right then and there.

Shoot, download immediately, and show. Hand them a price list and be ready to collect any form of payment.

Ariel the guy I talked to about it said to print and post on a large board and then the people could see it and buy if wanted....I am thinking the cost and time to shot down load and print any or all of the shots that are good is going to be out of control....I would put that into the cost but ..... the ink the paper and the time.... I am now thinking (thanks Joe) with pp I can give the cf to an assistant have them up load and then go. I have two cf's now and can go from one to the other as needed. I think I can get the projector and a pc I was thinking of doing a logo overlay over them all as a sort of promo sort of thing that would not show up at print. I was thinking I could have an order for/receit there with a person same assit as above to take orders/print off the picts.
With the free for all that the fair is will the release forms be able to be done? I am thinking awards, and candids...or what ever then when I take the shot I can hand them a card/piece of paper that tells them where and what of gettting a look at them. I am not even sure this will happen... but the ideas are great thanks guys.
