Underexposed with Minolta Maxxum 7000 Hi! I have a Minolta Maxxum 7000 that I have not used in a couple of years. With new batteries installed, I started using it again last week. Some of the pictures are coming out underexposed and some are perfectly fine. It didn't matter whether pictures were taken indoors or outdoors, with or without flash. I used ISO200 film on it. I'm really baffled with this. Thanks.

Hi Ed, I purchased a used 7000 last year. After a few months I noticed the same thing. I found when I used my AF lenses the problem was underexposures in anything but bright light, but I had a manual lens and the problem was not there. I took it to the camera repair shop and they replaced the AF magnet. (I think that was what it was called) Now my camera works great, I only have to relearn it now that it is fixed. I hope this helps.

Thanks, Linda. I brought the camera to the shop at the same time I posted my question. I was told that the lens was the problem. With the new lens, I still get the same results. Where is the AF magnet? Is it on the lens or in the camera itself? Is there a website where I can find a good camera repair shop? Thanks again.

Ed I took mine to Camtronics in Columbus, Ohio. I'm not sure of the exact name of the problem but they were very good in pinpointing it. They have a web site and offer a free price estimate. You also can ship the camera to them for repair.

I seem to have the same prob. I thought the auto film speed was broken and I was going to manually compensate, until I found this post. I've been compensating with a flash for filler, and that works well in many situations. Thanks for the info.
